Alvord Lake was created in 1801 as a gathering place for the public - a respite from urban living. It is the entrance to Golden Gate Park at Haight and Stanyan Streets. The Alvord Lake bridge was built in 1889 by Ernst Ransome. Because it is the first reinforced concrete bridge in the United States, it was designated as a civil engineering landmark in the 1970's. One of the features of the tunnel are the man-made stalagtites.
One Brick will help the San Francisco Rec & Parks Department with weeding, mulching and pruning.
Meet where Haight Street ends at Stanyan Street.
