Description:

BUG DAY AT THE RANDALL MUSEUM is one of our three annual, free, family event days (along with Halloween, Crafts Day). The entire Randall Museum is taken over by fun and interactive displays, activities, games, and art projects that celebrate bugs!!!!!!! Last year we had bug-song sing-alongs and dances; people could make beeswax lip-balm, munching mandible masks, and proboscis butterflies; they could do maggot races, ant obstacle courses, and the dragonfly dash; they could also learn about bugs by holding silkworms, look at bugs through microscopes, visit the bee house, and more. And the truly brave were invited to actually eat them (really). BUG Day is FREE, fun, accessible to people of all ages, raises environmental awareness, supplements science education in schools, and promotes both a sense of community and a chance for quality interactions among family members.

One Brick will welcome and interact with public, help with set-up and clean-up, help lead crafts, games, food and retail sales.

Other Info: Please park towards back of building (if possible), wear comfortable clothes, especially shoes; dress in layers for SF weather; bring sun protection - hat, sunglasses, sun block.
Volunteers should meet at the front desk. Please carpool or take public transit if possible.

Organization: Randall Museum Friends

One of San Francisco's hidden treasures, the Randall Museum is the premier place where all age groups can participate in an integrated program of arts and sciences dedicated to the culture and environment of the Bay Area. It offers experiential education through interactive exhibits, classes, drop-in activities, special events, and school field trips atop beautiful Corona Heights. We also have over fifty different species of wild California animals and one of the largest model railroads in Northern California. The Randall Museum is owned and operated by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. Established in 1954, Randall Museum Friends is a non-profit organization that raises additional funds to support the museum's operations, programming and facilities, and provide strategic support and advocacy.
