Event Description

Since 1982, Support for Families of Children with Disabilities has offered information, education, and parent-to-parent support free of charge to families of children with any kind of disability or special health care need in San Francisco. www.supportforfamilies.org.

Their purpose is to ensure that families of children with any kind of disability or special health care need have the knowledge and support to make informed choices that enhance their child’s development and well-being. Through fostering partnership among families, professionals and the community our children can flourish.

We will help with the Holiday Ice Skating Party for families of children with disabilities or special health care needs.

What we'll be doing

Volunteers will assist the Special Events Manager with event set-up, guest registration, welcoming families, assisting guests with ice skating, coordinating refreshments, and event clean up.  If you are able to ice skate, we may have you skate with some families too, but if you cannot, there is plenty to do outside of the rink.

What you should know

Location/Meeting Place: Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center, 750 Folsom Street, San Francisco. When you arrive, please proceed through the main entrance to the “Warming Room” inside the Ice Arena.

Volunteers should wear comfortable/casual/warm clothing. The ice skating rink is indoor but it will be cold.  If possible, please also bring a santa hat if you have one or are able to get one.  This will make it easy to identify volunteers, but is not necessary if you are not able to bring one.

Please do not bring valuables with you. There are coin operated lockers where you can store your belongings (please bring change). If you’d like to bring cash to purchase food and drinks at the concession stand, please keep it safely with you or in the locker.
